“Live, Laugh, Love.” A phrase that can be found on the walls of most of our homes. Of the three, the most important is love, but how many truly know and experience it the way God has intended? In the love chapter, 1st Corinthians 13, we see the true definition of love. Some people believe love is conditional. However the love preached in the Bible is an unconditional love, freely given to all. As it is stated from verses 4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”.
You are not given love because of who you are or what you’ve done, it is not something you can earn. Instead you are given a love demonstrated by the cross. The purest example of an unconditional love. As Christians, it is our duty to spread the love given to us by Christ, but it is also vital that we know how to receive it. It is a fact that we are imperfect, but Christ gives us his love regardless, he chose us to be his own. Even while on the cross, before you and I were even born, he thought of us. In the end, there is no need to strive for love, we have all that we need right here in Christ.
